Galeri Ansgar Lund

performance, five days eight hours per day, 2010/2013

In 2010 we founded a gallery called Ansgar Lund. The gallery takes part in art fairs, but it is non-profit. It doesn’t sell anything. Instead it mirrors the ‘performance’ that is an art fair. The acts of looking, texting, explaining, smoozing, waiting are being repeated by three actors for the entire duration of the fair. By doing this, a theatrical space is created, transforming the art fair into a stage, in which the story is not about the objects changing hands, but the temporary situations between people.

(When we were on the Arco in Madrid, the rumour of a ‘fake gallery’ was going around the fair. We heard from someone who walked across the entire fair, looking at each stand and wondering if this is the one that isn’t real.)

Performed by: Harm van Geel, Judith Hazeleger, Xavier Fontaine (2010) and Roy Peters (2013)
