Despite the raw material, this three-legged female with her casually fastend T-shirt conveys a light-footed elegance. In performances, films, installation - and recently in sculptures, too - Sander Breure and Witte van Hulzen explore how we use body language to communicate who we are. Starting from the idea that identity is always in a state of flux, they assemble their sculptures of human figures from different, often everyday materials, as if they could be changed if necessary. Who knows, this figure could well be wearing a different face tomorrow. [Esmee Postma]
